Free Bras: Female Job Seekers Get Extra Support
Job seekers can use all the help they can get these days, and a couple of well-known organizations are partnering to help the disadvantaged with their very foundations. Alicia Vargo, the owner and founder of Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie Bras, is teaming up with Dress for Success to supply new and properly fitted bras to those who need them most.
Vargo says that it's her mission to ensure all women -- no matter their background -- have the opportunity to feel confident and comfortable underneath their professional attire. "Disadvantaged women deserve to have a new and properly fitted bra so they feel comfortable and confident when going on job interviews. This is one of the most meaningful projects we host throughout the year."
Partnering with Dress for Success is a perfect fit. The international not-for-profit organization promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Since starting operations in 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to more than 110 cities in nine different countries. To date, Dress for Success has helped more than 550,000 women work towards self-sufficiency.
Their initiative, called "Alicia's Bras for Success," will involve a five-city national tour which kicks off on July 28, 2011, in Albany, N.Y. Nearly 100 women will be fitted with new bras at each of the events. The events will also be held in:
- Los Angeles, Aug. 11, 5-6 p.m.
- Austin, Texas, Sept. 17, time TBD
- New York City, Oct. 13, 5-7 p.m.
- Denver, sometime in August
- Colorado Springs, Colo., sometime in August
