After much speculation, the Prince William and Princess Catherine have jetted off to the Seychelles Islands for their honeymoon.

The Republic of Seychelles is an African island nation in the Indian Ocean, east of Kenya. Its 115 granite and coral islands were once a possession of France and then Britain before gaining independence in 1976.

According to the Daily Beast, the royal couple have chosen to relax in privacy at the Fregate Island Private.

Only 40 guests can be accommodated at the resort at a time. Its 16 villas cost between $3,880 and $5,700 per night, while the presidential villa is a bank-breaking $14,400 nightly. (The U.K's Daily Mail estimated that the newlyweds villa would cost roughly 4,000 pounds per night.)

The newly minted Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are not newcomers to the Seychelles. In 2007, after a brief split, the couple rekindled their romance with a vacation on Desroches Island. Here the rates start at around $786 per person for a shared room.

Rumors of a Seychelles vacay really picked up steam when Farhad Vladi, Germany-based owner of Vladi Private Islands, told the Hamburger Abendblatt he had rented the North Island in the Seychelles chain to the Windsors.

Villas here start at around $3,023 per person, per night.

For those seeking a more affordable way to follow in the royal footsteps, Le Meridian's Seychelles hotels offer more reasonable rates.

A night at Le Meridien Barbarons can start around $270 per night for a double room.

Visitors can also opt to rent a private apartment for a more reasonable sum.

Apartments from Homelidays, for instance, can start at $1,286 for a whole week. Or, a one bedroom apartment from La Villa can be as low as $200 per night.

Avid divers, Will & Kate might want to hit up Felicite Island, which is located about 2.5 miles from La Digue, the fourth-largest Seychelles island. It's a perfect spot for snorkelers and hikers alike .

Located on the northwest coast of the island of Mahe, Beau Vallon is one of the island's most popular beaches.

Clear waters and coral reefs make it a popular spot for snorkeling and base diving.

Also located on Mahe, Intendance Beach is another popular bathing spot on the island and is popular with surfers.

Grand Anse beach on La Digue is they type of getaway we office-dwellers dream about – white sand, turquoise waters and all. Its perfect locale for basking in the sun.

In 2008, Matt Lauer paid a visit to Praslin Island.

He certainly was on the right track as Lonely Planet called the island's Anse Lazio beach the best on the island, and one of the best in the Seychelles.
