Best Mother's Day Gift: A New House

For these celebs, Hallmark just doesn’t cut it on Mother’s Day. When good fortune crossed their paths, they shared the wealth in the most lavish way possible – by moving Mom into the lap of luxury. From Tinseltown's most infamous, like Hugh Hefner and Charlie Sheen, to young starlets like Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato, the celebrities on our list spared no expense on mom’s new crib. Click through to see the extravagant homes of celebrity moms.

Where does Hugh Hefner, the world's most famous playboy, provide a home for the mother of his children? Right beside his sex symbol mansion, of course. Bought in 1996 for then-wife Kimberly Conrad, this Holmby Hills, Calif. mansion is just a stone's throw away from some of the wildest parties of the last century.

This 7,300 square foot, 1920s-era English manor-style estate includes five bedrooms, seven baths, and one hell of a view. After nine years of marriage, the couple separated (wonder what caused that strain), but remained married for their children.

With steamy grotto trysts and family-friendly pool parties within just a matter of yards from each other, the night-and-day lifestyles of Hefner's twin mansions couldn't be any more different. Hefner's marriage to Conrad in 1989 heralded the end of an era for Playboy's infamous owner -- or so we thought. Have you seen his latest squeeze?

While Hefner bought the mansion for an undisclosed sum back in 1996, the sales price doesn't bode well for him. The mansion sold for $18 million, though it was listed for nearly $28 million. But when you're dating blond bombshells well into your 80s, is there really any reason to mope about it? (The mansion, by the way, which was built in 1929, is three years younger than Hef.)

Taylor Swift might have gone Hollywood with her meteoric rise on the pop-country charts, but her heart is still in Nashville-- which is precisely where she bought this three-bedroom, 5,000 square foot estate for her parents. The purchase price? $1.4 million. Not bad for a girl who graduated high school in 2008. Click on to see the home's refined country interior.

This contemporary take on a down-south dining room includes vaulted ceilings with intricately hand-crafted plaster rosettes, original hardwood floors and extra bright patio doors -- the perfect place to cool pies on a Sunday afternoon.

Built in 1925, the Swifts retained much of the original architecture and furnishings of the home. The extra tall bank of windows ensure that every inch of the home is flush with natural light.

Exposed trusses and plenty of sunlight give this combination dining area and kitchen a modern, yet rustic charm. The Swifts can peer just outside their patio doors for picturesque views of the countryside.

When Taylor isn't crashing at her colonial-style Los Angeles crib, this formal living room would make a perfectly cozy stage for an acoustic set. That is, if Taylor ever gets a moment's rest from her non-stop recording career.

What do you get a billionaire on Mother's Day? Hopefully some sales leads on their nigh-unsellable mega mansion. Candy Spelling, the widow of television mogul Aaron Spelling and mother to actress Tori, is trying to unload her $150 million uber-estate. Take a look inside the mansion that was once cited as the most expensive home in the world.

The 14-bedroom, 27-bath home, located in Holmby Hills, Calif., has been unofficially on the market since 2009. At 56,000 square feet, you may have trouble finding reasonable comps in the neighborhood -- which is perhaps why the home has remained at $150 million, even after making its public debut on the MLS.

At 65 years old, Candy Spelling may be experiencing empty-nester syndrome. Of course, when other parents face this milestone, they usually don't consider moving into a 17,000-square-foot condo "down-sizing." Just for a sense of scope, this foyer includes 30-foot-high ceilings.

The Spellings built the mansion in the early 1980s for about $45 million. Two recessions and a housing crisis later, the $150 million price tag has a few people scratching their heads. But when your home includes a bowling alley, hair salon and dog grooming area, would you accept any less?

Think this sprawling living room is self-indulgent? Then of the 100-plus rooms in the home, you probably don't want to visit the three rooms devoted especially, and exclusively, to gift wrapping.

Academy Award-winning actress Penelope Cruz has more than movie roles on her mind these days. With the birth of her baby boy back in January, the budding actress and her equally talented hubby, Javier Bardem, have their hands full. Which is why a serious bid on this Los Angeles bachelorette pad could be the best Mother's Day gift of all.

The interior has been described as "Balinese Modern," but that doesn't quite capture the spirit of the sparsely decorated pad. The property was reportedly not the actress's main residence, which could explain the understated decor. It measures 3,334 square feet and includes three bedrooms and baths.

Even without a ton of furnishing, this spacious abode shines with its open floor plan and clean lines. If you're not looking to buy, though, Cruz reportedly rented the home in 2008 -- for $14,500 a month. The house was originally listed at $3.695 million, but was dropped to $3.15 million last month.

It's easier to match the home to its ridiculously attractive owners by touring the pool area in the back. Breathe in the rarified air of rich people as you float in the kidney-bean-shaped pool.

After a relaxing soak in the pool, retreat to the Cabana-style outdoor bed. If this is in fact the bed where Cruz spent some sweltering afternoon, baking under the sun, the home may be well worth the asking price.

The former "Two and A Half Men" star probably won't be WINNING! any father of the year awards anytime soon. But if we're to believe his latest real estate bid, he may be turning a new leaf. The headline grabbing star is reportedly in escrow to buy this property for ex-wife Denise Richards. He's even reportedly considering buying a house for his other ex, Brooke Mueller.

This Mediterranean-style home is currently owned by Hollywood honcho Mike Medavoy, the chairman and CEO of Phoenix Pictures. Sheen allegedly paid the full asking price of $7,495,000, claiming that the only news he must read is news about himself.

Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards, who were married in 2002, had two daughters together, and Sheen is reportedly trying to move his children closer to his home. But given that Richards claims that her ex-husband threatened to kill her and caused her to fear for her children's safety, it's not terribly likely that she'll take him up on his offer.

The interior looks surprisingly demure in contrast to Sheen's latest antics. The 9,020 square foot mansion includes 6 bedrooms, 9 baths and, conveniently enough, is located in Sheen's neighborhood. But considering that ex-wife Brooke Mueller recently filed a restraining order against her bed-head coiffed suitor, living within stalker-range of Sheen may prove problematic.

What's not to love about the gracious Georgian-style mansion P. Diddy bought for Kim Porter -- baby mama to three of his five biological kids? Spending $5,250,000 in 2009 for the 9,655-square-footer in Toluca Lake seems a bit hefty, but since Forbes named Diddy the richest figure in hip hop in 2011, we don't think the repo man is coming anytime soon.

What's a Georgian mansion without a sweeping staircase? The two-story grand foyer features a crystal chandelier, a black and white checkered marbled floor, and enough space to practice your yodeling, or rapping.

A formal dining room that holds a table for 10 is a centerpiece of the white clapboard estate that rapper and clothing line entrepreneur Diddy bought for Kim Porter.

The fireplace is the focal point of the formal living room in Kim Porter's Toluca Lake home. The home also has a dining room with a temperature-controlled wine storage area, a screening room, library and gym.

What would a mansion for a mom be without a heated pool and large outdoor entertainment area? Large expanses of grassy lawn aren't easy to keep green in the hot San Fernando Valley summer, so we hope P. Diddy is at least considering some drought-resistant plants.

Sure this Disney star has made her share of what most moms would consider "bad choices," but she sure made amends on her 18th birthday by buying this $2,250,000 Los Angeles home for mom and the family. We'll forgive the fact it's in the San Fernando Valley and instead admire the 4,053-square-foot Spanish style home's grace and style.

The fireplace and arched windows add charm and warmth to the formal living room of the home Demi Lovato bought for her mom. Hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings with exposed trusses complete the picture.

Since this is not the most impressive sports court we've seen and San Fernando Valley temps often peak around 100 in the summer, Demi Lovato's mom might prefer hanging out in the master suite, which has a fireplace, soaking tub, enclosed steam shower and a terrace overlooking the valley.

Like any good Los Angeles home worth its price tag, outdoor entertainment areas are essential. So who will be popping over? It's been reported that she's returned to dating Wilmer Valderrama.
