The man suspected of raping a woman at Denver International Airport last week has been charged with one count of sexual assault.
Noel Alexander Bertrand, 26, of Portland Ore. was arrested last Tuesday after raping a woman in a deserted airport terminal. He was caught after two airport employees on the tarmac saw the incident through a window and called for help.

Bertrand is being held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled for a hearing next Thursday.

The victim, a 22-year-old woman, was flying through the airport last Monday en route to an interview at a convent. She reportedly decided to spend the night at the airport after striking up a conversation with Bertrand, whom she met in an airport bistro.

Bertrand followed her after the restaurant closed. After she rejected his request to kiss her, he threw her to the floor and proceeded to assault her for 10 minutes.

According to the woman's father, she did make it to a convent in Illinois.

"It was important for her to go. There was no other place that she could be that she would get the counseling and reasoning that was going to be important to get her through this," he told the Associated Press.
