Wounded Warrior Project Helps Injured Vets
If you've been injured in military service, there's an amazing resource available to you that's so good it's been selected as one of the Best NonProfit Organizations to Work For in 2011. The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) placed first among all participating organizations.
The Wounded Warrior Project was established to raise awareness and to enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. It's a national, nonpartisan organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla.
"We have worked hard to create an environment based on our core values of fun, integrity, loyalty, innovation and service. The team here is truly dedicated to serving this generation of wounded warriors, and we always try to recognize their tireless efforts, encourage their input and ideas as well as nurture their ongoing enthusiasm for this very important cause," said WWP Executive Director Steven Nardizzi.
So not only is the WWP a great place to help you find employment, it's also a great place to be employed, according to this most recent honor. You can find job openings on the organization's website.
Many troops pay a high price to serve. In fact, more than 40,000 troops have been physically wounded during the current military conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hundreds of thousands more are estimated to be recovering from invisible wounds of war, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depression, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). WWP is set up to give thousands of wounded warriors and caregivers support each year through programs that are structured to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.
