Only a shanty of a bar, but solidly full of funk, Bomba’s corrugated iron and driftwood walls are hand-painted with slogans preaching peace and good vibrations. The March 11 Japanese earthquake sent a tsunami to the shores of Hawaii’s Big Island, flooding the beach at Hualalai and shuttering the storied Beach Tree bar until April 30.  When it reopens, regulars will rush back for the sangria pitchers, choosing a seat at the north end of the polished tree trunk bar to enjoy its first class view of the setting sun.
