They may not exactly be our Prince William and Kate Middleton, but last month the suddenly-in-the-news-again Kelsey Grammar married Kayte Walsh at New York's Plaza Hotel. When celebs get hitched, they often choose private homes and estates to keep security tight and the paparazzi out. But many of the world's finest hotels have proven they can perform these functions just as well, while at the same time offering readymade luxurious ballrooms and top-end services. Here's a rundown of some of the world's most popular properties for superstar unions. See the hotels.

Top Celebrity Wedding Hotels: Where the Stars Get Married

Pegged in 2009 by the We Network's Unforgettable Wedding Venues as the #1 nuptial spot in the world, Long Island's sprawling Oheka Castle was the second largest private home in America when it was built nearly a century ago. Now a luxury hotel, it served as the December 2009 site of the marriage between Kevin Jonas and former hairdresser Danielle Deleasa. One-time 'N Sync-er Joey Fatone was among the guests, returning to the place where he married longtime girlfriend Kelly Baldwin in 2004.

Still one of the swankest resorts in elite Palm Beach, century-old The Breakers sits on 140 acres of fantastic beachfront property, making it perfect for a celeb wedding that's appropriately posh and still on mainland U.S. soil, but away from the harsh LA-NY spotlight. Last year The Breakers hosted two famous pairings, those of actress Joanna Garcia and New York Yankee Nick Swisher in December, and Rush Limbaugh and Kathryn Rogers in June (an event which sparked headlines when the unapologetically flamboyant Elton John sang wedding ditties for the conservative talk show icon).

Picked by Forbes Traveler as the best hotel in world in 2009, the 15th century Villa d'Este has been luring the moneyed and the famous to Lake Como since it became a hotel in 1873. Last July it served as the idyllic wedding site of Cute Couple of the Century John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. Lake Como's most famous resident, George Clooney, was among the guests.

Tucked away in the near-to-LA oceanside enclave of Rancho Palos Verdes, the luxurious Mediterranean-style Terranea sits on 102 Pacific-facing acres, with views of Catalina Island. Last year it served as the locale for the highly publicized February union of Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney, as seen by TV audiences on The Bachelor: Jason and Molly's Wedding. Actor Chad Lowe also married producer Kim Painter here in August.

While the Four Seasons Hualalai shares celeb wedding distinction with Maui's Four Seasons Wailea (where Danny Bonaduce wed manager Amy Railsback last November), the Big Island's Hualalai nudged ahead in the contest with last June's sunset beach nuptials of Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green. Both Hualalai and Wailea are popular star honeymoon destinations as well.

Few properties in greater Hollywood can match celeb wedding firepower of the Beverly Hills Hotel, which most recently served as a shuttle origin spot for the December wedding guests of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden (the actual ceremony was at bride-dad Lionel Richie's posh area pad). Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne also famously renewed their vows at the Beverly Hills on New Year's Eve 2002/03, a wild event caught on tape for the couple's then-MTV smash The Osbournes. Other BH Hotel weddings have included those of John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn in 1998, and Shaquille O'Neal and Shaunie Nelson in 2002.

A favored exclusive Caribbean playground of the likes of Justin Timberlake, Julia Roberts, Zac Efron, and Penelope Cruz, Parrot Cay has also served as the site of several celebrity weddings. Most, like that of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner in 2005, happen at the isle's one hotel, Parrot Cay Resort, though Bruce Willis and model Emma Heming married in 2009 at Willis's nearby home. The resort is also a popular celeb honeymoon destination, though interestingly two of the most famous recent pairs to use it as such, Eva Longoria and Tony Parker in 2007 and Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz in 2008, have both already split.

A time-honored celeb wedding classic, the illustrious Plaza hit the spotlight again on February 25, when Kelsey Grammer married wife number four, 29-year-old Virgin Atlantic stewardess Kayte Walsh. It was a lavish $100,000 reception (all of which can now proceed thanks to Grammer's ex-wife Camille, herself a budding celeb on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, allowing Grammer a quicky 11th hour divorce on February 10). The Plaza has played host to many top celebrity weddings over the years, including that of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000, a $1.5 million dollar blowout attended by the likes of Martha Stewart, Jack Nicholson, Goldie Hawn, Oliver Stone and Meg Ryan. Matching that price tag in 1993 (making it one of the 90's most expensive celeb weddings) were the nuptials of Eddie Murphy and Nicole Mitchell.

The Bel-Air is so fabulous that even while closed for renovations (it's scheduled to reopen this summer), it still managed to get picked by Travel+Leisure readers as the best hotel in Los Angeles for 2010. The lush sanctuary has been the spot of many a high profile celeb wedding over the years, including that of Lee Majors and Farrah Fawcett in 1973. More recently, Kate Beckinsale married director Len Wiseman here in 2004, and actors Jay Mohr wed Nikki Cox in 2006.

A little farther up the Pacific coast (and further off the public radar) than equally fancy neighbors the Four Seasons Resort Santa Barbara and the San Ysidro Ranch, the 78-acre Bacara Resort & Spa served as the January 2010 site of Josh Duhamel's surprise (even to her) wedding renewal to Fergie, then his wife of one year. (Duhamel later complained on the Ellen Degeneres Show that hotel staff leaked the surprise.) In 2004 the Bacara was also the setting for the Halloween-themed union of rock star Travis Barker and former Miss USA (and current Bridalplasty host) Shanna Moakler.
