Drew Barrymore hoodwinked the Hollywood real estate gossips for a short while this week when they announced she had purchased a 5-bedroom home in Montecito, Calif. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the wrong one. The actual home Barrymore bought for about $5.7 million is a 1937 Monterey colonial that was last listed for $6.9 million.

The 6,000-square-foot L-shaped home (pictured below) has six and two-half baths and three fireplaces. The dining room, with dark walnut floors and large windows, opens to a glass-enclosed lanai overlooking a backyard terrace.

wing, with two connecting bedrooms and baths, has a multi-purpose room that can be used as an office or media room. At least one of thebedrooms has a Juliette window. There's also a guesthouse with a detached two-car garage on the two-acre property. The main house has a two-car attached garage.

The landscaping shows giant oaks and sycamores. A "Grey Garden" it is not. Barrymore closed on the home, listed by by Bob Lamborn of Sotheby's International, in June.

Known for her 1982 role in "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," the all grown-up childhood star in 2002 sold to Ben Affleck her 3,500-square-foot, two-story home that had been damaged in a fire a year earlier. In April 2002 she paid $4.35 million for a 4-bedroom, 6-bath, 7,800-square-footer, which it seems the star of Never Been Kissed still owns.
