12-Step Programs: Underground Network for Jobs
Twelve-step programs, such as Alcoholics and Emotions Anonymous, constitute underground networks. That means intense bonding -- and nothing could be more ideal for help finding jobs. After all, your past isn't held against you.
Leveraging 12-step programs for more than managing addictions was first outed by Cosmopolitan's founder Helen Gurley Brown. She told single women not only to attend AA meetings to find a husband but also to be strategic, as in only hanging out in wealthy suburban ones.
How to convince yourself to try this? Just keep in mind that everyone is addicted to something, be it booze, work, or approval of others. So there's no problem with attending open meetings, that is those which don't require official credentials of having a disease like substance abuse.
