Jason Lee of 'My Name Is Earl' Sells L.A. Home

Before you go, we thought you'd like these...
Chalk it up to Earl Hickey's karma: "My Name Is Earl" actor Jason Lee sold his Los Angeles area home for $3.1 million, just three years after buying it from musician Robert Cray for $3.4 million. Heck, most home sellers are happy to get out of homes they bought that year still wearing their shirts, so we suspect Lee is shedding few tears.

"My Name is Earl," the 2005-2009 TV comedy about a lovable petty thief trying to make amends to all those he wronged, thrust Lee into the spotlight as an actor. Lee already had established himself as a professional skateboarder; he and Tony Hawk were the first two skateboarders to get signature shoe deals with Airwalk.
When "Earl" was canceled, Lee -- sans the moustache -- got the role of a quirky police detective on TNT's "Memphis Beat." He's also done voices in numerous animated films and, as they say in Hollywood these days, voicing is the new normal when it comes to steady work and paying the bills.

The 2,200-square-foot one-story home has three bedrooms and sits on a 1.5-acre terraced hillside lot in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. The home, built in 1948, has city-light views and a detached guest house with an open beamed ceiling. There is a private office that Lee and his wife reportedly used as an apparel design studio, a rectangular pool, a hot tub off the master suite, and a large two-car garage and motor court where Lee no doubt kept some of the vintage motorcycles that he collects. The dining room has polished concrete flooring and a wall of sliding glass French doors.

Richard Klug of Sotheby's International Realty, Beverly Hills, had the listing.
