Bernie Madoff's Personal Items Go on Sale
Auctioneers are offering items including Madoff's bed linens, Rod Stewart CDs and cuticle scissors, The Wall Street Journal reported.
"You'll find everything," said Jennifer Crane, of the U.S. Marshals Service asset-forfeiture division.
Madoff is currently serving a 150-year prison sentence in North Carolina for perpetrating the biggest Ponzi scheme in U.S. history.
To be sure, there are big-ticket items in this auction lot. The public will have the chance to buy Madoff's 18-karat yellow gold vintage Rolex, which will set them back at least $65,000. Or they could fork out for a platinum ring set with a 10.54-carat emerald-cut diamond, which has a low estimate of $300,000.
The auction is expected to raise at least $1.5 million. It is being held online and at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in Manhattan. It is the second auction of Madoff property. The third and final auction will sell off items from Ms. Madoff's recently sold Palm Beach home.
