An unusual Austrian hotel, where guests are accommodated in real sewer pipes, has done so well it's actually expanding – to Germany.

Five used, refurbished sewer pipes are set to open as hotel accommodations at Bernepark Bottrop-Ebel, near Essen, Germany, in the spring, according to the dasparkhotel website.

So what can guests expect?

At the original Austrian property in Ottensheim, west of Linz, guests sleep in pipes furnished with a double bed and are kept cozy with a cotton sleeping bag and wool blanket.

The sewer accommodations have electricity -- a light and a place to plug in your cell phone. And there is storage space for your stuff too.

The idea is to provide a place for travelers "who need a little time out from their everyday lives," according to the property's website.

You have to leave your sewer to use toilets and showers, which are located in a separate "public space." The Austrian hotel, which also has a cafe, is open May to Oct.

Booking is online only, and "pay as you wish" – you leave the amount you can afford to support the project.

That same pricing will apply in Germany, because, according to the website, it "works so well."
