Business Sheds 39,000 Jobs in September
Another 39,000 private-sector jobs have gone down that recessionary black hole. That wasn't supposed to happen in September.
But it did, reports ADP Employer Services. Part of the reason was that the jobs that had come with the Census had gone and they haven't been replaced yet. But, will they be? ADP researchers aren't bullish. They see the possibility of the jobless rate climbing to 9.8-9.9 percent.
For those searching for a traditional full-time position with benefits, this might be a "reality bites" moment. They may be realizing that earning a living -- at least for the near future -- means putting together multiple forms of income. Those could include temporary assignments, a part-time job without benefits, and operating a small business such as a dog walker or caterer.
