Have you ever left a book behind in a hotel room? Apparently a lot of people do, so the Travelodge UK chain decided to survey which titles people were dumping. And a book about Simon Cowell tops the list.

Yes, that Simon Cowell of "American Idol" fame.

Simon Cowell: The Unauthorized Biography by Chas Newkey-Burden was the most often abandoned book, according to managers of 452 Travelodge properties.

The Daily Mail newspaper snipes that Cowell, also creator of "X Factor," is already "king of disposable pop songs," and that with the survey results "it seems that his life story is equally disposable."

The TV personality/producer factors in the No. 2 most left behind book too, penned by Ant and Dec, co-stars of Cowell's UK show "Britain's Got Talent." The book is called Ooh! What A Lovely Pair: Our Story.

The third most discarded book by Travelodge UK guests is an economic tome, The Storm: The World Economic Crisis And What It Means, by British politician Vince Cable. That's followed by The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.

All three of the mystery books of Swedish writer Stieg Larsson are on the top 10 most abandoned books list -- The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest -- as is Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga) and Eclipse, both by Stephenie Meyer.

Rounding out the list is Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.

A Travelodge spokeswoman tells the Daily Mail more than 20,000 books have been left in the chain's rooms in the past year. She says more thrillers were discarded this year than ever before, while people seem to be holding on to their "chick-lit."
