Key West is the southernmost point in the United States and an ideal place for travel photography. A year round photographer's playground, Key West is always warm, bright, sunny and perfect for scenic landscapes or fun snapshots. From beautiful beaches to historic hotels, photo opportunities in Key West abound. Here is a closer look at five must-see locales.

1. The Romantic Photo: The Crowne Plaza La Concha Hotel

One of the most scenic views in Key West would also make the perfect proposal site. Towering over the streets of Key West, the Crowne Plaza La Concha Hotel offers one of the best photo ops in the city. Built in 1926, the La Concha Hotel is seven stories high and offers breathtaking views of Key West. Also a national historic landmark, the hotel is in the heart of downtown right off famous Duval Street. Sunsets overlooking Duval Street or nighttime shots of the city lights make for some of the best photos Key West has to offer. Set your camera on something steady and on low shutter to get a beautiful picture of the nightlife on Duval Street.

2. The Quirky Photo: 1847 Key West Cemetery

If you are looking for a quirky picture with a bit of humor, visit the Key West Cemetery for one of the most darkly humorous and interesting photo ops in Key West. Comedic tombstones dot the cemetery including that of B.P. Roberts, which reads, "I told you I was sick."

The 1847 Key West Cemetery sits at the intersection of Angela and Margaret Streets.

3. The Family Fun Photo: The Southernmost Point

There are many great fun family spots in Key West. A memorable location for a classic Key West shot is at the Southernmost Point. Located on the south-end of Duval Street near the Southernmost Point Guest House, this cement statue is painted red, yellow, black, and white and reads, "300 miles to Cuba. Southernmost Point. Continental USA. Key West, Florida." Gather the family around this landmark and take one of the most famous shots in Key West travel photography.

Nestled along a sandy beach and set to the soundtrack of crashing waves, the Pier offers one of the most relaxing photography landscapes in Key West. Set your camera on something steady and on low shutter and you can get an amazing night picture with crashing waves, a lit pier, and light glistening off of the water.

5. The Classic Photo: The Duval Street Sign

A classic spot to take a memorable picture of Key West is located by the boat harbor on the north end of Duval Street. Directly in front of the store, Local Color, is a post with several signs pointing to various cities and towns. Along with each town is listed how many miles the destination is from the site, such as "Portland, Maine, 1768 miles." It makes an interesting picture and playing with different angles makes this shot one of the most fun photo opportunities in Key West.
