A New Zealand company has come up with a new kick for fans of extreme travel – driving a real tank.

Tanks for Everything is located about a half-hour outside of Christchurch, on South Island, a place already known for such extreme activities as bungee jumping off a bridge.

The tank experience is the brainchild of Jonathan Lahy-Neary, a former IT manager, who has assembled a fleet of a dozen hulking vehicles.

Drivers can choose from such options as a Russian T-55AM2 and a British-built Centurion that was used by Australia in the Vietnam War.

The guns have been disabled on all the vehicles. But to add to the wartime ambiance, participants dress in camouflage gear.

The drives take place on an off-road obstacle course built for the attraction. Anyone who is too afraid to drive can opt to be driven around instead. A history lesson about each vehicle is included in the tours.

For those looking for even more of a thrill, an add-on option lets you actually crush a car with the tank.
