The Social Network movie trailer pops up in Social City
The Social Network: You don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.
A trailer of The Social Network has landed on the front page of Social City's The New City Gazette, an in-game newsletter where Playdom makes its game announcements. If you haven't heard about it now, "The Social Network" is a movie about the founding of Facebook, directed by David Fincher, and starring Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. The film hits theaters on October 1.
Usually, players get a treat for subjecting themselves to surveys and promo videos, so I was hoping that viewing this would net me some of Social City's premium currency -- City Bucks. But nope, there's no freebies to be had here. In the end, the trailer stops and you're merely given the option to "Learn More," which takes you directly to the film's official website. Boo.
This is still an intriguing film with a well-crafted trailer. Case in point, the song used in the trailer is a cover of Radiohead's "Creep," which seems to set the tone of the film perfectly. If you like playing Facebook games, you should give this trailer a peek -- it might offer some insight on your favorite gaming platform's murky origins.
