Marilyn MonroeThe posh Brentwood mansion where movie star Marilyn Monroe died in 1962 is up for sale for $3.6 million.

The Spanish colonial revival home in the Los Angeles suburb is a 2,624-square-foot, one-story house built in 1929 and features four bedrooms, three baths and of course, a swimming pool. Real estate agent David Offer describes the house on his web site as the "crown jewel" of the neighborhood and a "magical property." The listing doesn't mention the connection with Monroe. Offer could not be reached immediately for comment.

The house sits on a 23,000-square-foot lot behind gates at the end of a cul-de-sac. It's close to San Vincente shops and a Sunday farmers market. Prospective buyers lined up Tuesday to tour the house where Monroe for just six months.

The sex symbol was found dead there on Aug. 5,1962, of a drug overdose. Whether she committed suicide or was murdered has been a Hollywood mystery. Almost 50 years after her death, Monroe still captivates pop culture and memorabilia brings in a hefty price. Collectors Weekly says an auction of Monroe's personal estate brought in more than $13 million in 1999.
