Biz Brief: Weekly Jobless Claims Fall to 456,000

The latest employment data released by the government shows that weekly jobless claims fell 3,000 last week to 456,000. Continuing claims also plunged, marking the largest decline in total jobless benefit rolls in about a year.

As some signs of an economic recovery continue to build, all eyes remain on the labor market to see when there will be a ray of light for the millions of Americans currently out of work.

Just yesterday, Fed chief Ben Bernanke noted that despite some positive economic data, unemployment is expected to remain elevated for a "significant amount of time."
