SWISS

The "Age of Aquarius" appears to be re-dawning with Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), which just launched its first-ever non-stop service between Zurich and San Francisco, with an airplane very clearly designed to say "flower power."

The colorful Airbus A340, dubbed "San Francisco," will operate six days a week between the cities. SWISS says the plane was painted in 1960s hippie splendor as a tribute to the West Coast city's "famed past." And yes, the plane does purposely look a bit like a "love bus" from days of old.

The airline says the design was chosen by readers of a Swiss newspaper. It took a team of workers three days to paint the plane, and the design will remain on the aircraft for a year.

The interior of the plane is what you'd expect from the airline, including a fancy new SWISS business-class cabin. San Francisco is SWISS's seventh North American hub.
