Chicago Rental: Wicker Park 3BR Apartment for $2,600

Before you go, we thought you'd like these...
Rent a Wicker Park Home for $2,600Set on a picturesque street in Wicker Park, this 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment has uncharacteristically wide dimensions compared to most historic row houses. In the living room, the 22-foot width of the building and its bay windows work to enhance the roominess of the space and make it more livable.

Though there's vintage charm on the outside of this greystone, the interior has been completely renovated into a modern living space. The eat-in kitchen has been upgraded with stainless-steel appliances and granite counter tops. The powder rooms are finished off with spa-caliber stone baths and large marble-looking tiles. But the master bathroom has all bells and whistles with a steam and rain shower, a separate jet tub, and heated floors, a luxury during Chicago's frigid winters.

But what is the good of all these frivolities if the location is not spot on? Not a lot, I reckon, so let me fill you in on where this Wicker Park home is situated and what that means for you getting around town.
Slightly west of the main intersection in Wicker Park, colloquially referred to as "six corners," this sweet rental is away from the heart of the congestion. To walk up to the shopping promenade on Damen Avenue, or to the El, it's about four to six blocks to the East.

Walking up to one of the many breakfast nooks, restaurants or streetside bars on Division Street, it's about four blocks to the South. About a block-and-a-half away is Wicker Park itself, a relatively small, triangular plot of greenspace where the community gets its name.

The advantages -- a good location, a vibrant neighborhood life, interior upgrades -- might be making you wonder if there's anything not to like about the place. One thing to keep in mind is the size of the bedrooms. Divvying up 1,600 square feet into a three-bedroom place, although it's quite a lot of space in total, splices up the sleeping quarters. You can probably see that from the pictures of the master bedroom and second bedroom.

On the flipside, additional exterior space is included in the package. This Wicker Park apartment has a backyard, which is shared with the building's other tenants, and on the rear side of the apartment, a private deck looks over the yard below.

It appears that the terrace is large enough for a grill, or a table and chairs, even though (due to the unit above), the overhang is primarily in the shade.

But there's plenty of other places to soak up the sunshine, whether in the yard, down at Wicker Park or -- since there's a parking spot included -- you can even jump in your car and drive to Lake Michigan. All of which sounds delightfully perfect since summer will be in full swing when this pad is available on July 1.
