For an area known to be artistic with a slightly hippie bend, the high rents in the beach area of Venice, Calif. tell another story. Since Venice is a cool spot close to the beach with lots of great restaurants (and is a relatively small) the rents can be high for the space you get. Many apartments in Venice are atypical -- more like beach shacks -- compared to what you can find in other parts of Los Angeles, or even beach towns like Marina Del Rey or Santa Monica. But people love the Venice vibe, so for those of you looking to call this place home, just know the average price for a one bedroom in Venice is $2,005.

This particular house is in the canal area, one of the most charming parts of Venice. This one bedroom, one bathroom stand alone house is $2,150. As a redone house near the beach, this would be great Venice Beach living.
The Venice canals are a few minutes walk to the beach and restaurants. The charming neighborhood is filled with homes that are separated by canals, which is reminiscent of Venice, Italy, so you can only walk in this scenic area. To live here would be quite a treat.

The cozy (read: smallish) 1920's cottage home has been updated inside. The kitchen has new, white-lacquer cabinets, black-granite counter tops and a stove, and the bathroom has a new vanity, toilet and re-glazed claw foot tub. There are also new fixtures in the bathroom. The apartment has been newly painted inside, and has roman blinds in the living areas and bedroom, which is good because the apartment is light and bright. While it's not the biggest space (you have to ask for interior pictures or go see it in person), it has upgrades and charming details like crown molding. And it also has a little patio for you to enjoy.

Venice living is relaxed and the neighborhood is friendly with plenty to do. If you have wanted to call the beach home, this house could be the home you've been looking for -- with one catch, no pets allowed.
