Customize your frappuccinos this summer at Starbucks

StarbucksStarbucks wants your frappuccino loyalty bad. The beverage Goliath plans to stretch that line to include surprising ingredients, ice creams, bottled versions and launch other products.

It's also willing to let you custom-make the drink however you want it with options such as non fat milk, soy milk, sugar free toppings or you can also pour down that extra shot of espresso.

Of course, the privilege comes with an extra price. With almost $5 a grande, frappuccinos have the aura of a luxury drink. At a time when the economy is still struggling that seems like a lot of money, especially when you can find comfort in cheaper alternatives at Dunkin' Donuts and McDonald's. Yes, they are cheaper, but Starbucks wants you to know they don't come anywhere close to the dreamy fraps. The company is getting bullish to position its star drink in such a way that it outshines all its rivals.


Recently, it even set the vegan world abuzz with news about the possible nationwide launch of a vegan version of the drink. Starbucks said in a release that "it isn't launching a vegan product per se, but customers and baristas alike are thrilled that there will (for the first time) be a soy option. That may put a damper on the celebrations in the vegan world, but at least they are launching a soy option.

For now, the Frappuccino line for the summer, scheduled to hit stores in early May, seems to be as inclusive as it can be. Named "However-you-want-it Frappuccino" the chain would allow its customers to do just that. The company tested the product in the last two summers in Austin, Tampa and Dallas and heard great feedback from our customers, according to a release. It would be interesting to see whether rivals counter the new option in the near future.
