A new contest at Get Rich Slowly is offering $500 for that personal finance tip or story that we love to pull out when small talk turns to finances. Whether your story revolves around a small victory like paying off your first credit cards or is a personal finance tip that viewers can apply to their own life -- like starting a budget or mastering coupons -- you can enter.

Never one to pass up a chance at winning $500, I decided to condense the advice I give to graduating seniors every year into a two-minute segment. This speaking session normally lasts about an hour and covers everything form renting a first apartment and insuring your stuff to budgeting, paying off student loans, saving money and making smart credit card decisions.

The rules are simple.
  • Make your awesome video. ( up to 2 minutes )
  • Upload the video to your YouTube account.
  • Head to the Get Rich Slowly video contest page and click the "submit your video" button.
  • If you have any questions or have problems submitting your video, email videocontest@getrichslowly.org.
Now that you've seen my entry I hope you'll take the time to film a personal finance success story or tip of your own and enter it. The contest runs until April 15th and you can enter once in each category. In addition to two top prizes of $500 for the winner of each category, there are 10 runner-up prizes for each category; a signed copy of JD Roth's new book Your Money: The Missing Manual. Finally, if you have your own personal-finance-related website, your entry has another chance at winning $500.

What are you waiting for? Start filming!
