The brutal murder of New York broker Linda Stein in 2007 shocked New Yorkers as well as the real estate industry. Stein (far left), was bludgeoned to death inside her doorman-guarded apartment. Her former assistant Natavia Lowery (near left) is accused of murder.

Newly released video of Stein's apartment lobby blows a hole in statements made by Lowery's defense.

When Mark Benecke, Stein's Prudential Douglas Elliman co-worker arrived at Stein's apartment that day, Lowery allegedly told him that Stein went out for a walk. The video footage reveals that Linda Stein never left her apartment that fateful day...<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8I0NWPEwVF8&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8I0NWPEwVF8&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br />

Instead, the video (above) shows Lowery entering and exiting the building several times. On one occasion she is carrying Stein's purse.

Stein, who is said to have been well-liked and respected, sold multimillion-dollar properties to celebrities like Billy Joel, Sting, Michael Douglas and Steven Spielberg, started her career as a punk-rock manager for The Ramones and others. She is survived by two adult daughters who are suing Prudential Douglas Elliman for failure to do an adequate background check on their mother's assistant.
