Facebook and Twitter Arrive on Xbox Live November 17 (That's Tomorrow)

Starting tomorrow, November 17, Microsoft Xbox Live (the online service for Xbox 360) is about to get a little more social. Now, in addition to chatting, playing games and watching movies with Xbox Live buddies, you'll be able to update your Facebook and Twitter status right from the Xbox.

In addition to the two social networking services, the Fall Update will also include Last.fm, the customizable Internet-based streaming music service, and Zune marketplace, allowing users to rent or buy high-definition TV shows and movies. Xbox Live members will also be able to get news, sports, weather, horoscopes and more, courtesy of MSN.

You must be a Gold Xbox Live member (which costs $50 a year) to use these new services, though Xbox Live Silver members (the free version) will be able to try them out from November 20 (noon EST) to November 23 (noon EST). We've contacted Microsoft to see if any of the new updates will be available to Silver members.

If you're already a Gold member, you can get the Fall Update by logging into Xbox Live on Tuesday and then the download will start automatically. And people say gaming isn't social...
