Men with genial personalities make an average of $2,500 a year less than their more aggressive colleagues.

salaryResearchers at the University of Essex grouped nearly 3,000 men into five personality types, before surveying them on salary information. The 6 percent deficit nice guys suffered was the same as the penalty for possessing a high degree of neuroticism. This was even after accounting for other factors such as education, occupation, work experience and training.
